Who we are....
Our Vision
Ferndale is a faith
community committed to becoming a healthy reproducing church. We exist to glorify
God by having a great commitment to the Great Commission and the Great
Commandment. This means we want to reach people with the gospel and help them
love God and each other.
Our Beliefs
-
The Bible is God's word.
-
God exists in three persons, the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit.
-
Jesus Christ is fully God and man.
-
Humankind is sinful and unable to please God apart
from personal faith.
-
Christ's death and resurrection is the only
adequate payment for humankind's sin and eternal life.
-
The Holy Spirit lives in every true Christian
believer's life.
-
Christ will return at the end of the age at which
time all dead and living believers will be resurrected to be with
Christ.
-
People who have not embraced Christ's sacrifice
through personal faith will be eternally separated from God.
Our History
Born in 1922, with eight churches united
to reach out to a growing population in the Hamilton/Toronto communities. Built
on a strong conviction that the Bible is the truth of God for every generation
and is relevant in addressing all of life, this group of churches soon spread to
other provinces. Driven by leadership that was passionate in their love for God
and people, eight churches have become 135 churches and 25 additional
congregations. Designed to be a people movement of interdependent churches, each
church took on an individual name and unique identity dependent on local
cultures, ethnic origins and traditions. Although a family of churches with
self-determined identities, we hold a common faith that Jesus Christ is the Son
of God and that we are to be an authentic expression of God's love on earth today.
Ferndale is the daughter church of Church of the Open Bible located
in downtown Peterborough. Ferndale was established in the West End of
Peterborough in 1961. Ferndale has had 5 senior pastors in its 45 year history.
Rev. Carl Crate. Rev. Carl Friedrich, Rev. Ron Unruh, Rev. Jake Geisbrecht, and Rev.
Rick Lucas.
