A Town Hall Meeting was held on October 6th to share updates on our Sponsorship Family, Potential Property Purchase and our Interim Parking Plan. Below is a summary of what was discussed.
Please speak to staff for an update.
The owners of the property west of the church have informed us of their intent to build a home on this property in the near future. This means the property is no longer available for us to purchase and develop into parking. The church leadership is now pursuing other options for future expansion. Please be in prayer for our leaders as they seek God’s direction for our church. Once these potential options are explored, the leaders will be reporting back to the church with a growth and expansion proposal.
Parking Interim Plan
The greatest challenge facing our church is parking accessibility. This challenge was presented at the meeting along with the following recommendations:
• Park effectively and thoughtfully (Park close to a driveway but not over a driveway).
• Park as far away from the building as possible. Leave closer parking for the elderly, new-comers, young families, and people with disabilities.
• Come with one car.
• Consider car-pooling.
• While we encourage you to engage in fellowship following the service, leaving 10 minutes prior to the next service starting would be a big help (i.e. 9:50, 10:20).
We realize there is no one single solution to this challenge, but if we all work together with these suggestions, we can make a difference.
As a church leadership, we have been seeking the Lord for direction as we continue to be blessed with growth. At the congregational meeting on April 28, we expressed our conviction that the Lord was leading us to pursue the purchase of the lot west of the church. The membership voted to approve the proposed purchase of the property. In September we learned that the owners of the property had other plans for the property and it therefore not available for us to purchase. As leadership, we recognize that this can appear confusing. Why would God lead us in this direction only for this to become a closed door? As I have reflected on this question, I believe that God’s real purpose is to develop us into people of faith. Pursuing this direction had great faith value for us as we’ve had to learn to wait on the Lord and to allow God to be in control. God doesn’t generally reveal his will and plan in advance but calls us to follow and trust Him with the information He has revealed. As a leadership, we will continue to pursue other options and continue to seek God’s direction for our church, but in the meanwhile, we will do our best to be faithful with what He has revealed to us at this time. Please continue to pray for us as leaders that we would be wise and discerning of God’s will for our church.
