Understanding Spiritual Gifts: The Power Gifts, Part 2

Passage: 1 Corinthians 12:10, 1 John 4:1

Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 12:10, 1 John 4:1 | Speaker: Pastor Peter Kenniphaas | Series: Understanding Spiritual Gifts | Spiritual gifts are given to manifest God to others for the purpose of building up the church in unity and spiritual maturity. The category of spiritual gifts called the power gifts manifest the power, presence and reality of God. The majority of spiritual gifts come under this category. Discernment of spirits is an important gift because it discerns the spiritual source behind the gifts whether they are inspired by the Holy Spirit, our own human spirit, or a demonic spirit. The intercession gift is a prayer gift that enables a person to pray selfless prayers with great energy and endurance. The spiritual gift of tongues receives a great deal of attention in the New Testament because of misunderstanding and misuse. This is a very unique gift since it is primarily for personal edification unless tongue speaking is interpreted so that others can benefit. Spiritual gifts are the primary means God uses to build and grow His church. Every gifted Christian must seek to discover their gifts and use them to serve others.
