The Surpassing Greatness of Jesus: Beware and Take Care
When life becomes challenging and we begin to wrestle with our faith, we become vulnerable to developing a sinful and unbelieving heart which turns away from the living God (Hebrews 3:12). This happens when something comes into our life and captures the affections of our heart. When something other than God has a hold on our heart, it will ultimately lead us to become a worse person rather than a better person. In order to keep our heart for God we must fix our thoughts on Jesus (Hebrews 3:1). Through Jesus we can come to know the beauty and goodness of God in a way that will keep our heart centered on God. But in order to keep our focus on Jesus we need God’s Word and God’s people. Only in partnership with these two things will we be able to keep our focus on Jesus, and keep our heart centered on God.
