New in Christ: Reconciled Together in Christ
Ephesians 2 provides a powerful description of our spiritual reality in Jesus Christ. Not only has God reconciled us to Himself through Jesus, He has also reconciled us to one another. Relational alienation is a major source of pain and sorrow in our world, but through Jesus’ death on the cross, God has destroyed the dividing wall of hostility to reconcile us to one another. The blood of Jesus is the only way people can be reconciled to God and to others because the law as a source of reconciliation is ineffective. In fact laws are the source of division creating the relational dynamic of insiders and outsiders. But through Jesus this source of division is removed so that we can be brought together to become one. Since our oneness together in Christ is the relational spiritual reality that Jesus has created for us, we must live out this reality in our relationship with other Christians.
