The Glory of the Incarnation: Jesus is the Way Into the Glory of God
Bible Text: John 1:14-18 | Speaker: Pastor Peter Kenniphaas | Series: The Glory of the Incarnation | Jesus is revealed as the Word made flesh and made His dwelling among us (John 1:14). This is a powerful revelation because it tells us how we can enter into an intimate relationship with God. Jesus becoming flesh means He shared fully in our humanity meaning He understands all the challenges we face as human beings. Every difficult situation or experience we might face was experienced by Jesus. This makes Him sympathetic and understanding of our weaknesses, flaws, failures and short-comings. As the Word made flesh we never have to fear being rejected or judged by Jesus. The word “dwelling” is connected with the word “tabernacle” which would have reminded John’s Jewish readers of the tent temple where God’s glory was manifested. This tells us that the glory of God is now accessed through a person rather than the old religious system of priests and sacrifices. Jesus now serves as the intermediary between us and God. Through Jesus we can encounter and experience God’s glory.
